I went into a restaurant recently and had the following brief conversation:
The host asked, “Are you hungry?”
I responded, “Yes, we’re pretty hungry…”
The host inquired, “Would you prefer indoors or patio seating?”
I replied, “We’d like to sit indoors, please…”
It struck me that this exchange is frighteningly similar to the amount of discovery done by many vendor teams today!
“Are you hungry?” “Yes…”
The vendor has confirmed pain…
“Would you prefer indoors or patio seating?” “Indoors, please”
The vendor has asked about the environment/tech stack…
What could possibly go wrong from here?
